what's kaio?
KAIO is a blockchain protocol designed to tokenize real-world assets (RWAs), particularly institutional-grade funds, bridging traditional finance (TradFi) with decentralized finance (DeFi). Founded by Avtar Sehra and formerly known as Libre Capital, it rebranded in July 2025 to focus on sovereign AppChain infrastructure for regulated assets. Key features include seamless on-chain access to tokenized funds with built-in compliance, automation, and 24/7 liquidity, enabling investors to participate in permissionless markets without intermediaries. Recently, KAIO expanded to the Sei blockchain, launching tokenized products from BlackRock's $2.82B BUIDL fund and Brevan Howard, integrating with Securitize's $4.63B RWA portfolio for DeFi applications. The project raised $11M in seed funding led by Laser Digital, Nomura's crypto arm, to accelerate RWA adoption. Additionally, Sehra partnered with Tether co-founder Reeve Collins on the separate STBL startup, which focuses on GENIUS Act-aligned digital dollars and stablecoins.
