what's harmonic?
Harmonic is an open-source infrastructure protocol designed to enhance the Solana blockchain's performance by introducing a competitive block-building marketplace. It allows Solana validators to source and select blocks from multiple independent builders in real-time, replacing the traditional single-leader model with a decentralized aggregation layer. This system promotes greater efficiency, transparency, and validator control, enabling custom policies for block selection such as MEV optimization, transaction inclusion rules, and alignment with specific network goals. By facilitating parallel block proposals and structured propagation similar to high-frequency trading exchanges, Harmonic aims to push Solana's throughput limits while maintaining its core principles of speed and fairness. Founded by experts from crypto-native R&D firm Temporal, the project addresses scalability challenges in block construction, fostering an open ecosystem where builders compete to deliver the most profitable and efficient blocks without centralizing control.
