what's eRPC?

eRPC is an open-source, fault-tolerant RPC proxy designed specifically for Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible blockchains. It acts as an intermediary layer between client applications and blockchain nodes, distributing requests across multiple upstream RPC providers to ensure high availability and resilience against failures. By load-balancing queries and implementing retry mechanisms, eRPC minimizes downtime and reduces reliance on expensive centralized hosted RPC services. The project emphasizes ease of deployment, allowing users to set it up quickly with minimal configuration for self-hosted RPC access. It supports features like request caching, rate limiting, and metrics monitoring to optimize performance in decentralized applications (dApps). eRPC is particularly useful for developers and projects seeking cost-effective, scalable blockchain connectivity without vendor lock-in. Built in Rust for efficiency, eRPC integrates seamlessly with popular EVM chains such as Ethereum, Polygon, and Binance Smart Chain, making it a go-to tool for enhancing RPC reliability in the Web3 ecosystem.
