what's beHYPE?
beHYPE is a liquid staking token developed by Ether.fi in collaboration with HyperBeat for the HyperLiquid ecosystem on HyperEVM. It enables users to stake HYPE tokens, the native asset of HyperLiquid, and receive beHYPE in return. This design preserves liquidity, allowing staked assets to remain usable in decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols while continuing to accrue staking rewards and contribute to network security. The mechanics of beHYPE involve a restaking protocol where HYPE is deposited into a vault, minting equivalent beHYPE tokens. These tokens can then be deployed across HyperEVM-compatible applications, such as lending markets on HyperLend or yield optimization platforms like Pendle. Initially launched with a pre-deposit phase via a multisig-secured vault called preHYPE, beHYPE facilitates seamless integration of Ethereum-based restaking strategies into the high-performance HyperLiquid environment, enhancing capital efficiency for users.
