what's WaterNeuron?
WaterNeuron is a liquid staking protocol built on the Internet Computer (ICP) blockchain. Users deposit ICP tokens to mint nICP, a 1:1 liquid staking token (LST) that accrues staking rewards while remaining usable in DeFi applications. The protocol stakes ICP into high-maturity neurons—such as 6-month and 8-year durations—managed non-custodially through Internet Computer's Network Nervous System (NNS). Governance occurs via the WaterNeuron DAO, where staked WTN tokens enable voting on proposals, including reward distribution. A portion of staking rewards (governance fees) is allocated to WTN stakers, with the majority flowing to nICP holders. Unstaking nICP to ICP involves a bonding and cooldown period matching neuron maturity, ensuring security and decentralization.
WaterNeuron hit $6.27M TVL with 16.43% APR on NICP liquid staking on ICP.
