what's Waifusion?

Waifusion is a pioneering collection of 16,384 guaranteed-unique, anime-inspired digital waifu NFTs deployed on the Ethereum blockchain. Each NFT features distinct 2D artwork traits, embodying the "waifu" aesthetic popular in anime culture. Originally launched in early 2021, it marked a milestone as the first major NFT project to undergo a full community takeover after the founding team abandoned it following a rug pull. The community's efforts preserved and revitalized the collection, with key rescuers forming uwucrew (@uwucrewnft) and later integrating Waifusion into the Kusari ecosystem (@bykusari). This revival highlights decentralized governance in NFTs, allowing holder-driven evolution while maintaining original art and lore.
