what's Taoscriptions?
Taoscriptions is the pioneering inscription and token protocol on Bittensor's L1 blockchain. It allows users to permanently embed arbitrary data—including text, images, SVGs, code, and more—directly on-chain via the system's remark function. These inscriptions are fully decentralized, immutable, and do not rely on external storage like IPFS, mirroring the functionality of Bitcoin Ordinals but tailored for Bittensor.[[5]](https://x.com/i/status/2036985250618691962) Taoscriptions also introduces the TAO-20 standard for fungible tokens, inspired by BRC-20 on Bitcoin. Token deployment costs 0.01 TAO, with mints at 0.001 TAO each in a fair-launch model featuring no pre-mines or whitelists and first-come-first-served 4-letter tickers. The protocol's inaugural token, $TAOS, has a 21 million supply, mint limits of 420 per transaction, and 50,000 total mint slots.[[3]](https://x.com/i/status/2036985255878349262)
Taoscriptions launched Bittensor L1 token minting via inscriptions for 0.001 TAO.
