what's Shield?
Shield is a self-custodial cryptocurrency wallet built exclusively for the Aleo blockchain by Provable, leveraging zero-knowledge cryptography to enable fully private on-chain transactions. By default, it conceals sender identities, receiver details, token amounts, metadata, and balances, allowing users to selectively reveal information only when desired. It supports private stablecoins such as USDCx (from Circle via xReserve) and USAD (from Paxos), facilitating confidential transfers, payroll, settlements, and asset management at scale for individuals, businesses, and institutions. Previously known as Leo Wallet—which Provable acquired and rebranded—Shield offers a intuitive user interface that simplifies onboarding to Aleo's privacy-first primitives. Available as a browser extension on Chrome Web Store and mobile apps on Google Play and App Store, it integrates with Aleo's ecosystem including bridges, DEXs, validators, and third-party tools, ensuring self-custody with no developer access to funds or personal data.
