what's SILK?
SILK is a web3 art collective and platform that bridges contemporary art with blockchain technology, hosting events, auctions, and publications centered on digital and physical artworks. It organizes immersive experiences like performances and exhibitions, often incorporating crypto-native elements such as ETH-based bidding for unique 1/1 pieces. The project emphasizes collaboration among artists, curators, and performers to explore themes of emergence, motion, and digital-physical hybrids. Through its Silk Magazine and events like Silk Road Chapters, SILK fosters a community around experimental art forms, including improvisational dances translated into painted records and auctions that include physical artist prints. Auctions are conducted on blockchain platforms, allowing collectors to acquire works with cryptocurrency, ensuring provenance and accessibility in the decentralized art ecosystem. The collective's activities highlight the intersection of traditional artistry with web3 tools, creating spaces for reflection on bodily expression and digital archiving without predefined choreographies, often using color symbolism (e.g., blue for introspection, red for impulse) to narrate performances.
