what's Redstone?
Redstone is a Layer 2 blockchain built on the Optimism OP Stack, designed specifically for onchain games, autonomous worlds, and ambitious MUD applications. It employs a Plasma-inspired architecture with off-chain data availability, posting only commitment hashes to Ethereum L1 instead of full batch data, which reduces security costs by over 90% while enabling permissionless challenges for data integrity. The chain includes an automatic MUD indexer, low-latency edge RPCs, and optimized infrastructure for high-throughput, fully onchain experiences with unchangeable physics and deep player programmability. Developed by Lattice as a cost-effective home for their MUD framework, Redstone supports EVM-compatible smart contracts and integrates seamlessly with tools like Quarry and Dozer for indexing and execution. It launched mainnet in 2024, hosting games such as Sky Strife and DUST, and is part of the Superchain ecosystem.
