what's Numo?

Numo is an open-source point-of-sale (POS) application designed for NFC-enabled Android devices, allowing merchants to accept Bitcoin payments through a simple tap-to-pay mechanism similar to Apple Pay or Google Pay. It eliminates the need for additional hardware, charging zero platform fees—only minimal Bitcoin network fees apply—and supports instant settlements without chargebacks. The app unifies Lightning Network for online payments and Cashu ecash protocol for offline functionality, enabling privacy-preserving transactions that sync upon reconnection. Features include automatic self-custody with threshold-based sweeps to a Lightning address, inventory management with product catalogs and tips, custom themes, and exportable sales reports. BTCPay Server integration is in development, making Bitcoin practical for everyday in-person commerce.
