what's Noir?
Noir is a domain-specific programming language designed for developing zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs and circuits. It enables developers to write privacy-focused code that verifies computations without revealing sensitive data, making it ideal for blockchain applications requiring confidentiality. Noir's syntax draws inspiration from Rust, offering a familiar and expressive way to define constraints and logic that compile into efficient ZK circuits compatible with various provers. Integrated closely with the Aztec Network, Noir powers private smart contracts and scalable ZK rollups. Developers can use Noir to build everything from simple verifiers to complex privacy protocols, with tools like the Noir Playground for testing and benchmarking. Its modular design supports multiple backends, facilitating interoperability across ZK ecosystems while emphasizing ease of use for both novices and experts in cryptographic development.
