what's Natcats?
Natcats is the first digital art collection generated autonomously by the Bitcoin blockchain. Each Natcat is a unique collectible cat derived directly from properties in Bitcoin block data, specifically when the block's Bits field contains the rare pattern "3b". These traits ensure non-arbitrary generation, with new cats potentially emerging over Bitcoin's lifespan as blocks are mined. Deployed on Bitcoin Ordinals via Digital Matter Theory (DMT) and TAP Protocol, Natcats pioneered the DMT Unique Non-Arbitrary Token (UNAT) standard. The initial 8064 cats were free-minted to the Ordinals community in February 2024, with trading primarily on marketplaces like Magic Eden under the collection identifier dmtnatcats.
