what's Mutant Garden Seeder?

Mutant Garden Seeder is a generative NFT art project created by artist Harm van den Dorpel. It consists of 512 unique non-fungible tokens minted on the Ethereum blockchain, where each NFT is algorithmically generated using the transaction hash of its birth block as a seed for a "chromosome" that determines the artwork's traits. The algorithm evolves the artwork over time: every n blocks, the piece mutates based on subsequent block hashes, creating dynamic, time-based changes to the visual output. This on-chain mechanism ensures that the art is fully contained within the smart contract, making it a pioneering example of autonomous generative art in the NFT space. Launched in collaboration with platforms like Folia, the project blends digital art with blockchain technology, allowing collectors to own evolving pieces that respond to the Ethereum network's activity. It emphasizes algorithmic creativity, drawing from concepts in procedural generation to produce abstract, organic forms reminiscent of gardens or biological mutations.
