what's Monaco Protocol?

Monaco Protocol is a decentralized trading infrastructure built on the Sei Network, designed to power the transition of Wall Street-grade capital markets to onchain environments. Incubated by Sei Labs, it provides a shared liquidity layer that enables apps to access institutional-level liquidity without bootstrapping their own order books. Key features include a high-performance central limit order book (CLOB) with sub-1ms execution speeds, deep liquidity pools, and onchain settlement in under 400ms, combining TradFi efficiency with DeFi's permissionless access. The protocol supports revenue sharing through its PitPass model, where builders deploying frontends or apps on Monaco receive an onchain tag that entitles them to a portion of trading fees generated by their users. This incentivizes ecosystem growth by rewarding development without competition from the core protocol. Monaco is built in Rust for speed and security, leveraging Sei's EVM for settlement, and targets applications in spot trading, derivatives, RWAs, and tokenized assets. As a foundational layer for onchain trading, Monaco aims to unify fragmented liquidity across chains and apps, offering tools like quant-grade execution and institutional APIs. It positions itself as the infrastructure for a permissionless Wall Street, open to retail and institutional participants alike.
