what's LayerDrone?

LayerDrone is a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) that creates the world's most detailed and standardized aerial imagery dataset. It operates through a global community of drone pilots who fly autonomous missions using sub-250g drones via the Spexi app. These missions capture ultra-high-resolution imagery (up to 1cm/pixel) in standardized 25-acre hexagonal areas called Spexigons, forming a continuously updated visual map of the planet. Blockchain verifies data quality and authenticity, ensuring immutability and preventing spoofing, while enabling shared ownership and progressive decentralization. The network powers spatially-aware AI applications, GIS tools, urban planning, environmental monitoring, and digital twins by providing 30x higher resolution, faster access, and lower costs than traditional satellite or manned imagery. Pilots earn reputation points (RP) and experience (XP) for contributions, with a forthcoming native token to incentivize participation, data access, staking for missions, and governance.
