what's HD Punks?

HD Punks is a collection of 10,000 high-definition NFT collectibles on Ethereum, each uniquely corresponding to one of the original 10,000 CryptoPunks. Created by @0xfoobar and explicitly not affiliated with Larva Labs, the project launched with phased minting sessions and emphasizes community-driven economics. The standout feature is its innovative tokenomics: 5% of secondary sale royalties flow to a community-owned Gnosis Safe multisig. These funds buy back $HDPUNK tokens—an ERC20 representing shares in an NFTX vault—from the open market and burn them, reducing circulating supply. Holders can mint HD Punks into the vault for $HDPUNK, providing liquidity without burning individual NFTs, ensuring art preservation while creating deflationary pressure on the token.
