what's Firelight?
Firelight is a liquid staking protocol built on the Flare Network, designed to enable XRP holders to earn yield on their assets within a DeFi ecosystem. It allows users to stake XRP by first minting FXRP (a wrapped version of XRP on Flare) at a 1:1 ratio through Flare's FAssets system. Once minted, FXRP can be deposited into Firelight's vault to receive stXRP, a liquid staking token that represents the staked position and accrues rewards from network activities. The protocol leverages Flare's Economically Secured Services (ESS) to generate sustainable yield, where stXRP secures services like insurance for DeFi protocols and liquidity for real-world assets (RWAs). This creates a capital-efficient mechanism, directing fees back into the XRP ecosystem. stXRP is ERC-4626 compliant, ensuring composability across Flare's DeFi landscape, including DEXs for trading, lending platforms for collateral, and liquidity pools. Firelight emphasizes non-custodial control, security through audits, and institutional-grade infrastructure to bridge XRP's payment-focused utility with broader DeFi applications, fostering growth in the XRPFi sector without requiring users to relinquish custody of their underlying assets.
