what's FXAgent?

FXAgent is an open-source WhatsApp chatbot that enables seamless sending and receiving of fxUSD, a yield-bearing decentralized stablecoin from f(x) Protocol, on the Base blockchain. Users interact via simple text commands like "balance" to check fxUSD/ETH balances, "send [address] [amount]" for peer-to-peer transfers, "history" for recent transactions with Basescan links, and "convert [amount] [currency]" for live fxUSD-to-fiat rates using CoinGecko. No wallets, seed phrases, or apps required—wallets are auto-generated for frictionless onboarding, targeting unbanked WhatsApp users (2B+ globally) in high-remittance regions like Africa and Latin America. Built with Node.js, Express.js, Twilio WhatsApp API, Ethers.js for Base mainnet via Alchemy, and Basescan/CoinGecko APIs, it performs fully on-chain ERC-20 transfers verifiable on Basescan. Developed under f(x) Protocol's fxUSD Builder Grant, it reduces remittance fees to cents (vs. 10%), provides DeFi yield access without crypto-native UX hurdles, and powers agentic payments in everyday messaging.
