what's Esusu?
Esusu is a decentralized application built on the Celo blockchain that modernizes traditional African community savings systems known as rotating savings and credit associations (ROSCAs), or Esusu/Ajo. Users can create and join savings groups (thrift circles) to contribute stablecoins periodically, with smart contracts ensuring transparent, automated fund management, time-locking, and equitable payouts to participants. The protocol features UUPS upgradeable contracts with multisig governance, multi-token ERC20 support, yield generation via Aave deposits, collateral security, emergency controls, and integrations for utility payments. Recent developments include Esusu AI, an autonomous agent for yield farming, user whitelisting via face verification, and reward disbursements in USDT/CELO. It supports real-world financial inclusion for underserved communities through mobile-friendly DApps and MiniPay compatibility.
