what's ERC-3643?
ERC-3643 (also known as T-REX) is an open-source Ethereum token standard designed for permissioned, compliance-focused tokens, particularly for tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs) like securities. Developed by the ERC-3643 Association, it enables institutional-grade token issuance, management, and transfers while embedding regulatory requirements directly into smart contracts. Key mechanics include on-chain identity verification via ERC-734/735 standards, modular compliance rules (e.g., jurisdiction-based transfer restrictions, whitelisting), and integration with KYC/AML providers. Tokens built on ERC-3643 restrict transfers to verified addresses only, supporting pilots with institutions and adoption across EVM chains for secure, regulated secondary markets.
