what's CoreDEX?
CoreDEX is a coretime derivatives protocol built natively on Polkadot's Agile Coretime system. It transforms blockspace allocations—represented as NFTs—into financeable assets, enabling users to trade, hedge, and generate yield on coretime resources. The protocol supports forward contracts for future delivery of coretime regions at fixed DOT prices, European-style call and put options priced via on-chain Black-Scholes models, and yield vaults that pool idle coretime NFTs for lending to borrowers who pay DOT fees based on utilization. Technically, CoreDEX leverages Solidity smart contracts deployed on the Polkadot Hub using pallet-revive, integrated with PolkaVM (PVM) Rust modules for oracle data and pricing engines. Runtime precompiles, including XCM for trust-minimized cross-chain settlement, facilitate execution across VMs. This hybrid architecture allows programmatic settlement of derivatives directly on-chain, with mock implementations demonstrating flows on testnets, paving the way for production use with Polkadot's coretime marketplaces.
