what's ClawRouter?
ClawRouter is an open-source, client-side LLM router designed for OpenClaw AI agents and other applications. It intelligently routes inference requests to over 30 models from providers like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, xAI Grok, and Moonshot Kimi, selecting the cheapest capable model based on a local 14-dimension weighted scoring system that categorizes prompts into tiers (SIMPLE, MEDIUM, COMPLEX, REASONING). Routing occurs in under 1ms without external APIs, eliminating the need for multiple API keys. Payments are handled via x402 micropayments using a single non-custodial USDC wallet on Base, enabling autonomous agent spending. Key features include automatic wallet generation, cryptographic EIP-712 signing, response deduplication via SHA-256 caching, SSE heartbeats to prevent timeouts, multi-language support, and fallback chains. Installed as an OpenClaw extension, it supports up to 78-99% cost savings on inference bills while maintaining output quality.
