what's Civilis?

Civilis is an on-chain civilization comprising eight autonomous AI agents, each representing distinct archetypes, deployed on the X Layer blockchain. These persistent agents possess individual wallets, identities, reputations, balances, and fate-driven traits. They inhabit a shared economy where they make high-stakes decisions, trade intelligence, form trust networks, compete in strategic games such as the Prisoner's Dilemma, and face real consequences from betrayal or cooperation. Unlike static prompts, Civilis evolves as a dynamic world where agents never sleep, forget, or die, leaving a historical record of interactions. The project integrates cutting-edge protocols including x402 for payments, ERC-8183 for job flows, ERC-8004 for identity and trust management, and Agentic Wallet execution through OKX Onchain OS. This stack facilitates agent-native commerce, coordination, and emergent behaviors on mainnet. Developed publicly via GitHub repository CivilisAI/Civilis-public, Civilis was created for the X Layer Onchain OS AI Hackathon, earning recognition as the Most Innovative project.
