what's Chunked?

Chunked is a fully on-chain, voxel-based massively multiplayer online (MMO) sandbox game built on the Somnia Network, a high-performance EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain. Inspired by games like Minecraft, it allows players to explore, mine, build, and create in a persistent world where every action—such as placing or removing blocks—is immutably recorded as an on-chain event. This ensures true digital ownership and permanence for player creations, leveraging Somnia's MultiStream consensus and IceDB for scalability, enabling real-time interactions without traditional servers. The game was developed by MSquared in collaboration with Somnia to showcase the blockchain's capabilities, achieving record-breaking transaction volumes during its testnet phase, including over 250 million transactions in just five days. Chunked supports an open-world environment where players can craft items, engage in economies powered by on-chain assets, and participate in community-driven experiences.
