what's Capital Markets and Technology Association (CMTA)?

CMTA is an independent, non-profit Swiss association established by leaders in finance, technology, and law to develop industry standards for using distributed ledger technology (DLT) and blockchain in capital markets. It focuses on tokenizing financial instruments, enabling issuance, distribution, and trading of security tokens with compliance features. The association provides frameworks like the CMTAT (CMTA Token) standard, a Solidity-based security token implementation for EVM chains with features such as conditional transfers, account freezing, token pausing, ERC-7802 cross-chain support, and ERC-7201 upgradability. Recent initiatives include adopting Chainlink's CCIP for cross-chain interoperability of tokenized assets and issuing standards like Digital Assets Custody.
