what's BITE Protocol?
BITE Protocol, developed by SKALE Network, is a cryptographic solution designed to eliminate Maximal Extractable Value (MEV) at the consensus level through threshold encryption. It transforms the Proof-of-Stake validator committee into a Threshold Encryption committee, ensuring transactions are encrypted and ordered fairly without front-running or sandwich attacks. This enables true privacy and fairness on blockchains by preventing validators from accessing transaction contents until finalization. The protocol introduces on-chain decryption capabilities via precompiled contracts, making threshold encryption a native primitive in the EVM. Smart contracts can process encrypted data securely, supporting advanced privacy mechanisms, confidential computations, and game-theoretic applications. BITE integrates with Intel SGX Trusted Execution Environments for secure processing of encrypted payloads within validator nodes. Built for scalability, BITE powers the FAIR L1 chain, an Ethereum fork that supports private on-chain data while maintaining public blockchain benefits. It allows developers to build applications with encrypted transactions, automatic decryption triggers, and verifiable fairness without compromising decentralization.
