what's AutoCap?
AutoCap is a programmable DataCap allocation system on the Filecoin network, implemented as a Filecoin Virtual Machine (FVM) smart contract. Developed by CryptoEconLab, it automates the distribution of DataCap to Storage Providers (SPs) based on their proportional share of FIL burned through finalized Filecoin Pay settlements for paid on-chain deals. This creates a permissionless mechanism that rewards verifiable economic contributions without manual verification processes. The system runs in discrete rounds comprising registration (SPs connect wallet, pay FIL fee), calculation (off-chain verified burn data inputted), and distribution phases (DataCap claimed via FRC-42 actor). Registration fees are allocated as one-third burned to support FIL value, one-third to public goods funding, and one-third to development. This ties DataCap issuance directly to network activity, reducing abuse risks and enhancing efficiency in the Filecoin Plus (Fil+) program.
AutoCap allocates DataCap automatically based on onchain FIL payments and burned share in rounds.
Introduced as an automatic DataCap allocation system that reads activity onchain, with participants registering wallets, settling Filecoin Pay payments in FIL, and receiving DataCap based on their share of FIL burned during defined rounds.
